Ambiguity is where a structural element in a text causes the interpretation of the text in more than one way. Prepositional Phrases (PP) introduce significant amount of structural ambiguity since how a PP modifies another phrase can often be traced beyond the syntactic scope of a sentence. It is rather intuitive that semantic knowledge is important to model the phenomenon properly.
