The design and layout of the machine are presented. A toroidal core armature is used to minimize end-winding length and copper wastage, and it lays within a four-directional permanent magnet structure, supported by a trunk-conical crown arrangement, allowing for the magnets to rotate. Furthermore, a methodology to design the proposed permanent magnet structure is presented.
