Abstract(s)
Globalization and migratory fluxes have been allowing the societies and organizations to become more and more diverse at socioeconomic, linguistic, and cultural levels. To face this cultural diversity, it is essential to acquire intercultural communication competences that allow an interaction and effective communication, facilitating the adjustment and integration in both organizational and social context. Since Portugal is known as a country characterized by its cultural diversity and given to the present and pertinence of intercultural communication competence in these scenarios, the present study aims to analyze the reliability and factorial structure of the Portuguese version of the Intercultural Communication Competence scale (ICC), from Arasaratnam (2009). This study integrates a broader project to validate the ICC in the Portuguese version. A total sample of 588 participants, aged between 17 and 77 years old (M = 24; SD = 9,461) participated in this study. The results obtained revealed that the three-factor model with eight items showed the best adjustment. The implications and guidelines for future research are also discussed.
