dc.description.abstractResearch collaboratives are a compelling addition to traditional academic institution-led research; highly motivated individuals connected across national and international networks are able to access huge populations and huge voluntary workforces very quickly to deliver high-quality research that has the potential to be more representative of the global healthcare environment. It is essential that the surgical community embraces, encourages, and supports these organizations to advance the acquisition of knowledge at a pace that was not seen in the past.pt_PT
