- Improving non-small-cell lung cancer survival through molecular characterization: Perspective of a multidisciplinary expert panelPublication . Fernandes, M. G. O.; Vilariça, A. S.; Fernandes, B.; Camacho, C.; Saraiva, C.; Estevinho, F.; Bastos, H. Novais e; Lopes, J. M.; Fidalgo, P.; Garrido, P.; Alves, S.; Silva, S.; Sequeira, T.; Barata, F.The management of NSCLC remains challenging, and the integration of data from predictive biomarkers in routine clinical practice can contribute to an optimal, individualized patient approach, particularly given the rapid emergence of effective targeted therapies. When considering molecular biomarker testing, the choice of the biomarker panel, target population, testing approach, and turnaround time are key issues that, when properly addressed, can improve the survival outcomes of NSCLC patients.
- PVM-based intelligent predictive control of HVAC systemsPublication . Ruano, Antonio; Pesteh, S.; Silva, S.; Duarte, H.; Mestre, G.; Ferreira, P. M.; Khosravani, Hamid Reza; Horta, R.This paper describes the application of a complete MBPC solution for existing HVAC systems, with a focus on the implementation of the objective function employed. Real-time results obtained with this solution, in terms of economical savings and thermal comfort, are compared with standard, temperature regulated control.(1) (C) 2016, IFAC (International Federation of Antomatic Control) Hosting by Elsevier Ltd. S.; Usai, G. L.; Vercellin, E.; Villatte, L.; Willis, N.The observation of an anomalous J/psi suppression in Pb-Pb collisions by the NA50 Collaboration can be considered as the most striking indication for the deconfinement of quarks and gluons at SPS energies. In this Letter, we determine the J/psi suppression pattern as a function of the forward hadronic energy E-ZDC measured in a Zero Degree Calorimeter (ZDC). The direct connection between EZDC and the geometry of the collision allows us to calculate, within a Glauber approach, the precise relation between the number of participant nucleons N-part and E-ZDC. Then, we check if the experimental data can be better explained by a sudden or a smooth onset of the anomalous J/psi suppression as a function of the number of participants.
