This paper reports the first record of the oomycete Diatomophthora perforans subsp. pleurosigmae infecting the Mediterranean microphytobenthic diatom Pleurosigma cf. intermedium, which was detected in the context of marine environmental surveys of the brine outfalls of two seawater desalination plants.
