We apply a selection criterion for Doppler spectral estimators that takes into account the accuracy of the estimation, benefit, and also the `cost' in computation power required. This cost/benefit criterion is used to compare four time-frequency distributions (TFD) including the conventional short-term Fourier transform (STFT).
