Abstract(s)

Este estudo pretende realizar a revisão de alguns dos principais instrumentos de Análise Regional, particularmente aqueles que mais frequentemente são objecto de implementação empírica. Pretende-se ainda confrontar as necessidades determinadas pela aplicação daqueles métodos com as disponibilidades de informação propiciadas pelo sistema estatístico nacional. A este propósito procura-se ainda efectuar recomendações que possibilitem o alargamento do espectro de técnicas passíveis de implementação. Finalmente, explicita-se uma estratégia de adequação das técnicas a utilizar com aquelas disponibilidades assim como com objectivos concretos de investigação para a região do Algarve.

This study aims to be a review of the main instruments of Regional Analysis, mainly those which are often more experimented. The information required by the application of those methods is compared with the existing information from the National Statistical System. Regarding this point, recomendations are made that may increase the number of techniques that may be object of implementation. Finally, the study aims to adjust the techniques to be used to the existing information as well as to the concrete investigation objectives for the Algarve.
