Abstract(s)
domínios do FAD: Comunicação, Responsividade Afetiva, Envolvimento Afetivo,
Overweight has an impact on the health of individuals, decreasing life expectancy and the prevalence of obesity has reached alarming proportions (OMS, 20181). Obese children are at increased risk of becoming obese adults (Moglia & Dill, 2016). Children's behaviors, including those related to health, are influenced by the family environment (Haines et al., 2016). In this context, the main objective of this study was characterize a sample of users followed in the Childhood Obesity and Dyslipidemia Consultation from a sociodemographic and axiological point of view and understands their family functioning. Thirty-one families participated in this study, 20 obese and seven overweight children. The family member who accompanied the child to the Consultation filled out a sociodemographic and axiological questionnaire and the Family Assessment Device (FAD). 21 children were female and 10 were male aged between four and 17. In the analysis of the results, we found significant differences between the family functioning pattern of the families of the Consultation and the normative values. Families of the Consultation show greater capacity in relation to the average in the following areas: Problem Solving and Affective Responsiveness. On the other hand they evidence less skills in the areas of Affective Involvement and Behavior Control. Concerning differences between boys and girls, significant differences were found in the following areas of FAD: Communication, Affective Responsiveness, Affective Involvement, Behavior Control, and General Functioning. No significant differences were found in the family functioning of overweight and obese children.
