A ocorrência de sismos e tsunamis tem impactado na vida de milhões de pessoas
desde o início das civilizações. Os acontecimentos desse tipo nos últimos anos
deixaram evidente que o desenvolvimento das cidades necessita cada vez mais do
avanço de especialidades como a engenharia civil e planeamento urbano. Este
trabalho analisa alguns eventos sísmicos e de tsunami em Portugal e outros países
com a finalidade de entender o comportamento estrutural de um edifício sob tais
condições. As propriedades de onda para análise estrutural foram retiradas de relatos
históricos, modelações computacionais e outros estudos. O levantamento das cargas
do tsunami foi feito com base na norma americana ASCE 7-16, o procedimento
japonês indicado em MLIT 2570 e alguns estudos experimentais. O trabalho consiste
em analisar a capacidade de deformação e o comportamento de uma estrutura,
dimensionada de acordo com as normas NP EN 1990:2009, NP EN 1992-1-1:2010 e
NP EN 1998-1:2010, sob efeitos de carregamento sísmico e/ou de tsunami, na região
de Lagos, localizada no Algarve, Portugal.
O estudo contém duas situações de projeto em que o tsunami tem três e nove metros
de altura. Ele irá comparar a capacidade de deformação máxima da estrutura para
algumas situações de carga, entre elas a de impacto, hidrodinâmica e impulsão
hidrostática vertical. Para cada uma delas, a estrutura será analisada para situações
onde só há a ocorrência do tsunami e outra em que o tsunami atinge o edifício após
um sismo.
The occurrence of earthquakes and tsunamis has impacted the lives of millions of people since the beginning of civilizations. Events of this type in recent years have made it clear that the development of cities increasingly requires the advancement of specialities such as civil engeneering and urban planning. This work analyses some seismic and tsunami events in Portugal and other countries in order to understand the structural behavior of a building under such conditions. The wave properties for structural analysis were taken from historical accounts, computer modeling and other studies. The calculation of tsunami loads was based on the American standard ASCE 7-16, the Japanese procedure indicated in MLIT 2570 and some experimental studies. The work consists of analysing the deformation capacity and behavior of a structure, designed according to the codes NP EN 1990:2009, NP EN 1992-1- 1:2010 and NP EN 1998-1:2010, under earthquake and/or tsunami loadings, in the region of Lagos, located in Algarve, Portugal. The study contains two design situations where the tsunami is three and nine meters high. There will be a comparation of maximum deformation capacity of the structure for some load situations, including impact, hydrodynamics and buoyant. For each of them, the structure will be analyzed for situations where there is only the occurrence of the tsunami and another in which the tsunami hits the building after an earthquake.
