O papel do terapeuta na mudança: perspetiva dos clientes com perturbação do uso de substâncias

| dc.description.abstract | Investigar a perspetiva dos pacientes contribui para o aumento do conhecimento dos fatores relacionais que influenciam o processo terapêutico e a obtenção de resultados. Na área de investigação das dependências, são poucos os estudos que abordam a perspetiva do paciente relativamente ao papel do terapeuta no processo de mudança. Na população com Perturbação do Uso de Substâncias, estudar a perspetiva dos pacientes em relação ao papel que o terapeuta tem no seu processo de mudança permite-nos conhecer e perceber que características do profissional contribuem mais para a mudança e influenciam a obtenção de resultados. Esta investigação pretendeu identificar quais as características específicas do terapeuta e da relação terapêutica, tentando ainda perceber o impacto que estes fatores podem, ou não, ter para a manutenção no processo de tratamento e consequente mudança dos pacientes. Foram realizadas entrevistas semiestruturadas a sete pacientes que concluíram com alta clínica o tratamento em Comunidade Terapêutica. As entrevistas foram analisadas através do método qualitativo da análise temática, com recurso ao programa MAXQDA. Foram identificados sete temas e as respetivas categorias. Tendo em conta os objetivos do estudo apenas foram analisados dois temas: Características do Terapeuta e Relação Terapêutica; cada tema é constituído por treze e cinco categorias, respetivamente. Os resultados embora apoiem as investigações já desenvolvidas na área, permitem-nos ter acesso a um outro conjunto de características do terapeuta que foram consideradas importantes no processo de mudança. | por |
| dc.description.abstract | Investigating patient’s perspectives helps to increase knowledge of the relational factors that influence the therapeutic process and the achievement of results. In the field of addictions research, there are few studies that address the patient's perspective on the therapist's role in the process of change. In the Substance Use Disorder (SUD) population, studying patient’s perspectives on the therapist’s role in their change process allows us to know and understand which characteristics of the professional contribute most to change and influence the achievement of results. Objectives: This research aims to identify the specific characteristics of the therapist and the therapeutic relationship, and to understand the impact that these factors may or may not have on maintaining the treatment process and behavioral change from the patient’s perspective. Method: Semi-structured interviews were carried out with seven patients who had been discharged from treatment in a therapeutic community. The interviews were analyzed using the qualitative method of thematic analysis, using the MAXQDA software. Results: Seven themes and their respective categories were identified. Given the relevance of the study, only two themes were analyzed: Therapist Characteristics and Therapeutic Relationship, each theme consisting of thirteen and five categories, respectively. Discussion: Although the results support the research already carried out in the area, they allow us to access another set of therapist characteristics that were considered important in the process of change. | eng |
