Abstract(s)
profissionais.
In a world increasingly ageing demographically, it is urgent to prepare professionals who work in the area of ageing. Formal caregivers are one of the examples of these professionals, who have been increasingly needed, and who provide care to institutionalized older adults. Their attitudes and behaviour influence the quality of care delivery. Therefore, training is an effective way to prepare them for the challenges of their role. It is intended to carry out a diagnosis of the ongoing training needs of caregivers, from the Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Albufeira of the ERPI, CD and SAD social responses, available at the time of the study. This investigation has a qualitative approach, is part of an interpretive tradition and a case study, using 13 structured interviews with the technical directors of these services and their caregivers. The results suggest that training has an impact on the work of caregivers and, although SCMA recognizes the importance of training for its workers, and has internal training plans that are annually updated and coincide with current themes and labour changes, there are always improvements that can be made, in order to continue to fight the physical and psychological strain of these professionals and, consequently, make what is learned in work useful for personal life, because the professional and the personal spheres are inseparable and influence each other. This study recommends a training plan for these professionals.
