| dc.description.abstract | As part of its mission, ISEKI-Food Association establishes and maintains a network among universities, research institutions, and companies in the food chain, in addition to working to ensure that food studies are of high quality. The 8th International ISEKI-Food Conference, hosted by the University of Algarve in Faro, Portugal, in 2026, continued this tradition by bringing together academics, students, researchers, industry professionals and policymakers to discuss the future of food research, education and industry. The 2026 edition is held at the University of Algarve in Faro, Portugal, on 1–3 June 2026, under the theme “Innovation in Research and Education for the transition to sustainable food systems”. The Conference focuses on three interconnected areas: Education and Training; Research; and Responsible food production and consumption. It is dedicated to scientists, professionals, and students from universities worldwide as well as to the food industry, with the explicit aim of bridging universities, research and industry, and of providing opportunities for delegates to exchange ideas, share application experiences, establish business or research relations, and find global partners for future collaborations. The scientific programme is structured around five keynote lectures that frame the three thematic areas. Eduardo Esteves (University of Algarve) opens the education strand with “Beyond Teaching: Building a Culture of Pedagogical Innovation in Times of Change”. Marin Rose (University of Copenhagen; CLEVERFOOD) addresses “Learning Beyond Silos: Critical Thinking for Collaborative Food System Governance”. Billy Goodburn (Agri-Food Cooperative Sector) brings an industry perspective with “From Training Needs to Implementation”. Marco Dalla Rosa (University of Bologna) speaks on a “Regenerative agrifood approach: skills needs for more sustainable and innovative food systems”. Dan Vodnar (USAMV Cluj-Napoca) closes the keynote series with “Biotechnological Valorisation and Functional Innovations for Sustainable Food Systems”. Together, the keynotes connect pedagogical innovation, cross-sector governance, industry skills needs, regenerative production, and by-product valorisation. | eng |
