Abstract(s)
Organizational culture and job satisfaction are highly relevant topics within the context of healthcare organizations. Research in these domains has contributed to increasing scientific knowledge, stimulating the creation of more aligned management strategies aimed at positive changes within organizations. The main objective of this research is to analyze the influence of organizational culture on the job satisfaction of healthcare professionals working in the Emergency Department of Centro Hospitalar Universitário do Algarve. A descriptive and correlational cross-sectional study was conducted with a sample of 194 healthcare professionals from a hospital emergency department. A questionnaire survey divided into three parts was applied: the Denison Organizational Culture Survey, the Job Satisfaction Survey, and a sociodemographic profile. The data collection period took place between December 2022 and February 2023. Statistical analysis was performed using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences software. The study's results confirmed that the most evident cultures are those of involvement and consistency, despite professionals expressing the need to promote a mission culture. It was also found that professionals are dissatisfied, with the main determinants of this dissatisfaction being salary, promotions, additional benefits, rewards, working conditions, and communication. Supervision, colleagues, and the nature of the work emerged as factors of job satisfaction. Statistically significant and positive correlations were found between all dimensions of organizational culture and the job satisfaction subscales. It is concluded that a mission culture is associated with greater job satisfaction, suggesting the need to orient this department towards cultural change management focusing on mission, motivation, and productivity through actions that promote professional satisfaction.
