Advanced Introduction to The Experience Economy is a timely book that discusses the theoretical underpinnings of experiencing. More than two decades after Pine and Gilmore's introduction of the popular notion of the experience economy (see e.g. Pine & Gilmore, 1998), Jon Sundbo reflects on the concept of experience and contrasts it to other concepts, sometimes used interchangeably in the literature, such as cultural economies, cultural industries and creative economies. In this text, similarities and differences are depicted, and the value of the experience economy is explored.
