Abstract(s)

Despite the low population density, the infrastructures and access are quite satisfactory to the practice of sports. The objectives of this study is to know the inclusive sports reality of children and young people with disabilities in the different sports modalities. The analysis of the data obtained points to sensitivity regarding the theme – Disability – as well as to the importance of sports practice for children and young people with disabilities and the creation of adapted sports. However, the development of these modalities are not foreseen in the near future the Clubs/Associations state, that in case children/young people and their families who join them in activities, these will remain in the existing arrangements as the demand is reduced and the number of children/young people with disabilities attending the activities almost nil. In the school´s group, the adapted modalities are bocce and swimming, however, according to the inquiry made by the teacher, this is insufficient and does not reach all students covered by selective or additional measures. When working with the children, it’s hard, as the information about the students is insufficient and there is also a lack of specific training in the field of adapted sport. The social involvement of children/young people with disabilities is something of which all respondents emphasize the importance. They refer to the benefits and the need for inclusion of people with disabilities by the whole of society.
