Invertebrates are the most successful and evolutionary diverse animals. Due to their long evolutionary history and vast distribution and adaptations to several environmental niches, they exhibit an astounding degree of morphological and functional diversity. Invertebrates make up more than 90% of the world’s species and their existence is essential for life on Earth since they play key roles in ecosystems.
