Abstract(s)
considerados.
Research presented in this dissertation studies the involvement of Phytophthora cinnamomi in the cork and holm oak decline disease in Portugal. Special emphasis is given to the pathogenicity studies associated to some edaphic and climatic factors that can influence the disease expression. In the cork and holm oak infested sites the survey of potencial hosts of P. cinnamomi was carried on within the understorey and overstorey species. Other hosts, besides cork and holm oak species, can show a high importance in the increase of P. cinnamomi inoculum levei through the ability of the fungus to sporulate on roots of these hosts, contributing, in favourables conditions to new infections. Detection and isolation methods of P. cinnamomi and its distribution in cork oak stands are considered.
