| dc.description.abstract | Elevada a vila no ano de 1362, Sines é uma vila situada no litoral alentejano que cresceu graças ao seu porto, que apesar do seu estatuto de secundário, é o único entre Setúbal e o Algarve. Sendo justo afirmar que a existência do porto está na origem e na evolução de Sines. Inicialmente ligado à cidade romana de Miróbriga, nos séculos seguintes foi adquirindo importância, o que levanta a hipótese de o lugar de Sines ter sido território onde as gentes viveram em permanência. Como lugar do termo da vila de Santiago do Cacém, pertencia à ordem de Santiago sendo que após a sua elevação a vila, Sines passou a concelho, sob a tutela da Ordem e do monarca. Nascida como vila portuária, procurou-se averiguar como ela foi crescendo desde o século XIV, sobretudo através da formação de bairros, até ao reinado de Filipe I, monarca cujas políticas passavam pela realização de obras de caracter defensivo não só ao nível dos edifícios de caracter militar como o castelo, como na zona portuária. Clarifica-se assim o objectivo da presente dissertação Sines do Medieval ao Moderno, estudo desenvolvido no âmbito do mestrado, em História e Patrimónios da Universidade do Algarve, para a respetiva obtenção do grau de mestre: a história de Sines balizada sobretudo a partir do século XIV, mais precisamente de 1367 ano em que Sines foi elevada a vila e meados do século XVII quando foram realizadas as obras na zona portuária de Sines. | dc.description.abstract | Elevated to town in 1362, Sines is located on the Alentejo coast that grew thanks to its port, which despite its status as a secondary, is the only one between Setúbal and the Algarve. It is fair to say that the existence of the port is at the origin and evolution of Sines. Initially linked to the Roman city of Miróbriga, in the following centuries it gained importance, which raises the hypothesis that the place of Sines was a territory where people lived permanently. As a term of the village of Santiago do Cacém, it belonged to the order of Santiago and after its elevation the village, Sines became a municipality, under the tutelage of the Order and the monarch. Born as a port village, we sought to find out how it has grown since the 14th century, especially through the formation of neighborhoods, until the reign of Philip I, a monarch whose policies included defensive works not only in terms of buildings of military character like the castle, as in the port area. This clarifies the objective of the present dissertation Sines from Medieval to Modern, a study developed within the scope of the master's degree, in History and Heritage of the University of Algarve, for the respective achievement of the master's degree: the history of Sines marked out mainly from the century XIV, more precisely from 1367 when Sines was elevated to town and in the middle of the 17th century when works were carried out in the port area of Sines. We thus propose to make our contribution to the construction of the history of Sines during these centuries. | pt_PT |
