Partiu-se da questão: Qual a relação da depressão e das redes sociais com a qualidade de vida das pessoas idosas no concelho de Tavira?
Este estudo tem como objetivo ajudar a conhecer a realidade do envelhecimento no município, analisando a importância da depressão e das redes sociais na qualidade de vida da população idosa.
Nesta investigação realizou-se um estudo de caso exploratório, descritivo, transversal e comparativo. A amostra é constituída por 59 idosos com idades compreendidas entre 65 e 92 anos de idade, residentes predominantemente no Barrocal e na Serra do concelho de Tavira.
Os instrumentos utilizados foram um questionário sociodemográfico, a Escala de Depressão Geriátrica de Yesavage, a Versão Portuguesa da Escala Breve de Redes Sociais de Lubben e o questionário WHOQOL-OLD. A análise dos dados foi realizada por meio do programa SPSS-IBM25 (Statiscal Package for Social Sciences).
Concluiu-se que existe associação estatisticamente significativa entre a depressão e a qualidade de vida (p=,000) e que também existe associação estatisticamente significativa entre as redes sociais e a qualidade de vida (p=0,009). Posto isto, ambas influenciam a qualidade de vida.
The starting point of this study was the question: What is the relationship of depression and social networks with the quality of life of elderly people in the county of Tavira? The propose of this study is to understand the reality of ageing in this municipality, thus analyzing the importance of depression and social networks in the quality of life of the elderly population. In this investigation was carried out an exploratory, descriptive, transversal and comparative case study. The sample is composed of 59 elderly people aged between 65 and 92 years old, living predominantly in Barrocal and Serra, in the county of Tavira The instruments we applied were a sociodemographic questionnaire, the Yesavage Geriatric Depression Scale, the English Version of the Lubben Social Networks Scale and the WHOQOL-OLD questionnaire. Data analysis was performed using the SPSS-IBM25 program (Statiscal Package for Social Sciences).
