dc.description.abstractWith worldwide fish farming growing by leaps and bounds to keep pace with skyrocketing demand for seafood, the hunt for eco-friendly, productive and health feed supplements have become the name of the game. Brown algae (Phaeophyceae) and their various derivatives, recognized for their abundant and diverse bioactive compounds as well as considerable nutritional value, are rapidly emerging as a pivotal research area within aquafeed development.The goal of this comprehensive analysis is to lay a solid theoretical foundation for the research and practical application of brown algae as a nutritional feed ingredient in environmentally friendly aquaculture systems. By systematically integrating and carefully evaluating a large number of recent studies, this document explains in detail the diverse beneficial effects of brown algae and its active compounds on a variety of important biological processes in fish. These include enhanced growth performance, fortified antioxidant capacity, improved immune function, optimized intestinal health, and crucial regulation of lipid metabolism. Furthermore, the review delves into the intricate potential mechanisms underpinning these observed benefits, which are consistently supported by empirical evidence from numerous studies. While these results show great promise, considerable hurdles remain. Chief among them is determining the optimal inclusion level,across different fish species and the various life stages of these fish. Another major sticking point is effectively dealing with anti-nutritional elements that are naturally present in certain types of algae. Most critically, however,scientists are still elucidating the intricate molecular and cellular processes underlying these benefits.eng
