A proteína Bone Gla (BGP, osteocalcina) é uma pequena proteína dependenteda.
vitamina K que apresenta resíduos de ácido glutâmico y-carboxilados. A presença destes
aminoácidos modificados permite à proteína ligar-se a iões Ca2+ e interagir com os cristais de
hidroxiapatite dos tecidos mineralizados.
