Abstract(s)
This report is the result of a seven-month internship carried out within the scope of the Master in Special Education, Cognitive and Motor Domains, at the Socio-Occupational Forum of ASMAL (FSO), in Faro. It is intended to be a report demonstrating the interactions with users and monitors of the institution during the time of intervention in the same. The general objective of the work was to understand/know if users feel that the work developed in the Socio-Occupational Forum contributes to their independence and self-determination. In order to achieve the outlined objectives, a qualitative methodology was chosen, using various data collection instruments (documentary research, participant observation, field diaries and semi-structured interviews) and the elaboration of an intervention plan with various activities, in which users participated, according to their interests. The activities promoted during the internship were divided into two groups: activities in which the researcher collaborated with the actions already scheduled by ASMAL and activities promoted by the researcher. The results indicate that ASMAL users liked the implemented internship plan and that their skills improved, namely autonomy and self-determination.
