Abstract(s)
sustentabilidade.
The main objective of a campground, is the overnight stay of its guests in areas or equipment intended for this purpose, in particular, tents, caravans or bungalows, thus leading to long stays in the same place. This thesis aims to design a project for a five star classification campground, in a pinewood area called Mata Nacional do Urso, situated in the county of Pombal. This is an area with some ecological and landscape sensitivity, located four kilometers away from the coastline. The project design process, took into account the three pillars of Sustainable Tourism (environmental, social and economic), as well as the Accessible Tourism and Nature Tourism. In order to make a project proposal adapted to the features of the study area, first, the bases for a “Good Practice Guide for the Design Process of Campground Projects” were outlined as a theoretical basis of the work. And then, a spatial and biophysical analysis were carried out, in order to identify the legal constraints, the issues and the potential of the intervention area. The project proposal aims to find the balance between the constraints of the place, the current legislation, the carrying capacity of the space, landscape framework and sustainability. The intervention proposal, aims to reconcile the objectives of leisure and recreation with natural conservation, through the creation of a minimal intervention area. The project results in a campground where the natural landscape dominates, overlying the multifunctional facilities of the park, through buffer zones that make the division between the different areas.
