Abstract(s)
Over the years, there has been a change in the family structure, as well as men's and women's sense of responsibility and motivations in relation to work and family. This change distances itself from the roles imposed by gender ideology, which assigns defined roles, where the man would be responsible for the financial health of the family, and the woman for taking care of the family environment, supporting the children and the husband. There was an increase in the difficulty in managing the work-family interaction. In this context, the present study aims to assess the extent to which sexism influences social judgment, in addition to the feeling of empathy and the degree of responsibility towards individuals who violate gender roles, in the context of the work-family conflict interaction. A study was carried out with 120 participants, of both genders, of Portuguese and Brazilian nationalities, involving 4 different conditions, selected for convenience, who responded to an operationalization instrument of the aforementioned variables and items related to biographical characteristics. The results reveal that there are differences in results according to gender, the male target is evaluated more negatively for being absent from work than the female target. In addition, women are the participants who evaluate the target more positively, and male participants evaluate the target more negatively.
