Abstract(s)
os seguintes instrumentos: Questionário Sociodemográfico, Measuring State Resilience,
Copenhagen Burnout Inventory, Escala de Afetividade Positiva e Negativa, e Work Hope
Scale.
Todavia, a amostra revela níveis igualmente
Burnout, characterized by a state of physical and mental exhaustion caused by working life, particularly affects helping professions. Resilience, on other hand, plays an important role in adapting to and overcoming the harmful effects of adversity, and in the professional performance of individuals. Hope, in turn, is defined as an expectation that favorably modifies subjective conjectures of the future. Therefore, there is an urgent need to study the reality of this professional group and to collect evidence on the role that hope may play as a moderator in their resilience, in order to contribute to the development of interventions that promote it. The present study aims to analyze resilience and subjective well-being in helping professionals, focusing on the protective role of hope in burnout situations. A total of 97 helping professionals (N = 97), aged between 22 and 66 years (M = 44.35 years; SD = 9.82), participated in this study. These are the following instruments used: Sociodemographic Questionnaire, Measuring State Resilience, Copenhagen Burnout Inventory, Positive Affect and Negative Affect Schedule, and Work Hope Scale. The results show that the surveyed helping professionals have high levels of burnout, which significantly affects their resilience resources and subjective well-being. However, the sample also presents high levels of resilience. Thus, hope has a positive influence on resilience and subjective well-being, appearing to be a mediating variable of the negative influence of burnout on resilience. In view of these results, it is important to promote hope in helping professionals, which will reflect in coping with stressful situations with greater emotional balance.
