Abstract(s)
Saúde do Algarve, I.P.
Administração Central do Sistema de Saúde, I.P.
This report focuses on an internship at the Algarve Regional Healthcare Administration, I.P. (ARHA, I.P.) at the Monitoring and Analysis Centre of Drugs and Complementary Means of Diagnosis and Therapeutics, integrated in the Public Healthcare and Planning Department (PHPD). The internship consisted mainly in the elaboration of a manual, called the Procedures Manual for Information Flow on Complementary Diagnosis Means, in parallel with the development of others activities in the Department. The selection of the internship main activity is directly related with the need in the ARHA to Monitor the Complementary Diagnostic and Therapeutic Means (MCDT); more specifically, on the need to monitor the information flow, from the data extraction carried out by the Monitoring and Analysis Centre of Drugs and Complementary Means of Diagnosis and Therapy of the Central Healthcare Administration, IP (CHA), to the prescribing physician. The motivation for this Manual elaboration follows the implementation of paragraph 3.57 of the Memorandum of Understanding on Economic Policy Conditionalities (MoU), which refers to the importance of improving the MCDT prescription monitoring system by implementing a systematic assessment of each physician in terms of volume and value and comparison with guidance and prescription standards.
