Introduction: Society is currently undergoing significant changes due to technological advances that have led to new forms of social interaction, such as remote working, online services, and the creation of more adaptable and inclusive workspaces and equipment. Social Design has emerged as one of the fields contributing to these changes, developing projects in a more accessible, sustainable, and impartial way based on design principles and methods. Methodology: This study used an exploratory methodology with a qualitative approach, allowing for a clearer understanding of the concept of Social Design, its main mentors, and existing designers and projects within the national context. Results: The study found that Social Design has contributed to the development of the Design field. Initially, designers focused on the functional and aesthetic aspects of products, but now they involve the community in the process, addressing the needs and experiences of end users, and prioritize solutions with a positive environmental impact, minimizing waste and promoting sustainable practices. Discussion and Conclusions: The research highlights that Social Design today is not only about functionality and aesthetics but also integrates sustainable practices, focusing on reducing waste and promoting ecological responsibility.
