Abstract(s)
Famílias UP.
The aim of this research is to assess the effectiveness of the Famílias UP Programme in terms of parental educational practices and perceived parental competences. This programme is a parental training initiative aimed at parents of children aged 0-6 living in Loulé, so that their development is as positive as possible, based on the Parent-Child Attachment Play and Playgroups methodologies (joint activities with parents and children, in a psychotherapeutic intervention approach). Since the programme began in 2020, 102 parents with children aged between 0 and 6 have taken part. The participants were assessed at two points, pre- and post-test, by answering a sociodemographic questionnaire and questionnaires analysing parenting educational practices (PEP) and perceived parenting competences (PSOC). The results showed that there was a significant improvement between the first moment (pre-test) and the second moment (post-test) in the variables assessed, both in the dimension of parenting practices (affection and support, permissiveness, excessive reactivity and intrusiveness) and in terms of perceived parenting competences (effectiveness and satisfaction). In conclusion, the Famílias UP Programme has proved to be effective in promoting positive parenting and empowering parents, although it would be crucial to extend its application to other municipalities and look for a more specialised team.
