Abstract(s)
This work was carried out as part of the Master's Degree in Special Education with the purpose of understanding the importance of early detection of hearing loss in the communicative development of a child and consequent intervention. It was intended to understand the contribution of early detection of hearing loss in the communicative development of a child. We know that the first years of a child's life are particularly vital for its later development and how the child will manage to overcome its difficulties. For this research a case study was chosen. A quantitative methodology was used through the application of the following instruments: Context Intelligibility Scale (Lousada, 2015); Rigolet's Checklist of Language Development (2000) and the Test for the Identification of Language Skills - TICL (Viana et al., 2004). This was a longitudinal study with two collection moments - before and after the application of a set of language enrichment activities. Focusing always on inclusion, it became necessary to determine how important an appropriate and systematic early intervention in the school context is in promoting the language development of a child with hearing loss. The active participation of the family in the child's educational process was equally important.
