A frota das empresas de aluguer de automóveis é constituída por várias viaturas de diferentes marcas e modelos separadas em grupos de aluguer que se diferenciam pelos respetivos segmentos de viaturas. Determinar quais as marcas e modelos mais eficientes numa perspetiva sustentável (incluindo a vertente económica, a vertente de satisfação dos clientes e a vertente de proteção ambiental), revela-se como uma tarefa útil na medida em que permite à empresa tomar decisões mais assertivas em fases de aquisição de novas viaturas.
O objetivo deste trabalho assenta na determinação e comparação dos níveis de eficiência das 224 viaturas que integraram a frota de uma empresa de aluguer de viaturas durante os 365 dias do ano de 2018. Esta análise de benchmarking foi desenvolvida recorrendo a um modelo de Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA), determinando-se assim a eficiência relativa de cada unidade tendo em consideração os níveis de inputs (recursos) e outputs (resultados).
A utilização do DEA no cálculo da eficiência de unidades homogéneas apresenta-se como um método vantajoso, pois permite uma fácil interpretação da comparação das diferentes unidades recorrendo a múltiplas variáveis de diferentes dimensões.
Os resultados obtidos com esta análise permitem identificar as marcas e os segmentos de viaturas que globalmente se apresentam como melhor alternativa para esta empresa desenvolver a sua atividade com maior nível de eficiência.
The fleet of car rental companies is constituted by several different car brands and models separated in rental groups which are differentiated by the respective vehicle segments. Determining which brands and models are most efficient from a sustainable perspective (including the economic, customer satisfaction and environmental dimensions), is a useful task as it allows the company to make more assertive decisions in the acquisition phase of new vehicles. The objective of this study is to determine and compare the efficiency levels of the 224 cars that were part of the fleet of a car hire company in the 365 days of 2018. This benchmarking analysis was performed by a Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) model, determining the relative efficiency of each unit considering the levels of inputs (resources) and outputs (results). The use of DEA in the calculation of homogeneous efficiency units is presented as an advantageous method, since it allows an easy interpretation of the comparison of different units using multiple variables of different dimensions. The results obtained with this analysis can identify the brands and segments of vehicles that are globally presented as the best alternative for this company to develop their activity more efficiently.
