Abstract(s)
This dissertation examines the prevalence of Boreout Syndrome among healthcare professionals in the ‘Agrupamento de Centros de Saúde’ (ACeS) of the Algarve region, as well as its relationship with occupational stress. A sample of 268 professionals was assessed using the Work Boreout Scale (WBOS). This scale was adapted and validated for the Portuguese context. Findings indicate a high prevalence of Boreout, albeit at moderate levels of severity in those affected. Additionally, significant differences were identified in Boreout and occupational stress levels among distinct categories of healthcare professionals. The study also uncovered a significant, yet weak, correlation between Boreout and occupational stress. These results underscore the need for systematic organizational interventions to address Boreout and foster a work environment conducive to the well-being and professional expectations of healthcare workers.
