Abstract(s)
Assente numa metodologia qualitativa, neste estudo foram utilizados inquéritos
Society, which is in constant change, is becoming increasingly more aware and critical of what it desires and considers appropriate in quality systems. Childhood education has also been the subject of constant mutations and demands following different historical periods as well as the evolution of the conception of childhood. The present study aimsat showing the social representations of an educational community, on a particular social solidarity institution in the region of the Algarve, on what concerns the ideal kindergarten. This study aims at ascertaining the importance that the educational community assigns to the work developed in kindergartens, as well as analysing the existence of a link between what this community considers to be ideal and what is stipulated in current legislation regarding preschool education and kindergarten. The goal was to know if the features of a kindergarten influence users (adults and children), as well the knowledge of a child’s view regarding their activity in kindergarten and the perceptions that the educational community has of the relevance of the management entities in the provided services. This study is based on a qualitative methodology. Questionnaires and interview surveys were used having as target audience guardians, educators, educational action assistants, management entities and kindergarten children. Data was recorded in audio and then written down. After a content analysis, it was possible to highlight the indicators referring to respondents’ social representations regarding kindergarten. Data about the educational community social representations concerning kindergarten indicate accordance with the curricular guidelines for preschool education (Lopes da Silva, Marques, Mata & Rosa, 2016) and further current legislation. However, the pursuit of this ideal seems to be a constant challenge for the management entities, who must be alert to population needs and yearns, never forgetting the professionals who work there, in order to implement essential adjustments to the proper functioning of the institution, adjust facilities and achieve satisfaction.
