Abstract(s)
Childhood is a privilege place of learning where it is desirable that the educator stimulate the children’s so they can feel compelled and motivated to learn how to learn. For that it is necessary that the children feel’s comfortable in their education environment and in the achievement of group activities, which is only possible if they are fomented to build relations between the colleagues/their pairs. It is important that the children feel’s good with themselves so they can have a good relation with the others and that is why we believe that meditation can be a useful tool, because it is a simple and effective practice which promotes wellbeing, health and acceptance for and from the other. This study comes from a personal curiosity about the practice of meditation and about the effects that can originate in the children in the preschool age. It was developed with a 5 years group in a Social Solidarity Private Institution (SSPI) in the country of Olhão in Algarve. Our main goal was to verify in which way the group meditation could influence the relations of friendship between the children, essentially qualitative character, applying an initially a sociometric test, to select 3 children which ones the study fells in. After the implementation of strategies and specific activities within the group it was applied the same sociometric test, which allows us to understand in there was any changes in the friendship relations between the childrens. The data that we have seems to indicate that the meditation sessions, joined with mandala paintings and the development of a game focused in the theme of affections have contributed to improve the relations of friendship between the children.
