Abstract(s)
The subject of the present dissertation is the elaboration of the Landscape Architecture Preliminary Project of the Accessible Visiting Route to the Ruins of the Roman Villa of Milreu which is one of the most relevant archaeological remains in southern Portugal and dates back to the 1st century AD, having been inhabited until the 19th century AD. The monument's tourist interest is aimed for national and foreign visitors in a current context of growing demand for cultural tourism with total accessibility as an alternative to traditional Algarve tourism, sea and sun. For that, the plan that frames the elaboration of this accessible route was a joint action between the Direction of Ruins of Milreu and the University of Algarve. The aim of this proposal is to present a solution that allows everyone to visit, get to know and contemplate the National Monument through an accessible route that, simultaneously, also protects the archaeological remains. This work was developed until the preliminary design phase and it is hoped that the entire community will benefit, so that the National Monument is known by all, without restrictions.
