Abstract(s)
In December 2019, SARS-CoV-2, currently known as COVID-19, emerged. This disease has a high level of transmissibility, incubation period, and there are asymptomatic patients, which forced the implementation of a period of quarantine and a lockdown with a strong impact on the daily life of the population. Periods of confinement, decreased well-being and, consequently, satisfaction with life, increasing psychopathology. Family dynamics were changed, including a marital satisfaction and satisfaction with love life and sexual satisfaction. The main objective of the present study is evaluate the dimensions of well-being, such as satisfaction with life and positive and negative affections during the first confinement by COVID-19, as well as the study of dimensions, such as sexual contentment with the affective-marital experience, in the population of Portuguese adults. A total of 86 people participated, 5 of which were 19 couples aged 18-65 years. We evaluate the affection, life satisfaction, love life satisfaction, sexual satisfaction and dyadic coping strategies. The main results showed that during the lockdown, couples, especially those from larger households, experienced more negative affects, which consequently reflected in their satisfaction with life. During the respective period, the negative affects, love life and sexual satisfaction and coping strategies used by the members of the couple are positively related. During the period referring to the “last 15 days”, this relationship is verified between satisfaction with the love life, sexual life and the coping strategies used, having the lost affections expressed. Thus, it is possible to say that the confinement due to the Covid-19 pandemic had a negative impact, both on the mental health of Portuguese adults, as well as on their marital dynamics.
