| dc.description.abstract | A hipoterapia é praticada com a finalidade de promover a reabilitação de pessoas com deficiências motoras, mas também com problemas cognitivos. Vários estudos sobre a perturbação do espetro do autismo, a síndrome de down, paralisia cerebral, entre outros, revelam que a prática da hipoterapia traz inúmeros benefícios, quer a nível físico, cognitivo e emocional. As lesões medulares resultantes de acidentes, podem causar vários condicionamentos de movimentos, desde paralisias até tetraplegias parciais ou totais. Esta investigação teve como principal objetivo: compreender como é que a hipoterapia se pode tornar uma mais-valia na reabilitação de uma pessoa com tetraplegia parcial, doravante designado por sujeito. Foram também formulados três objetivos específicos que permitiram delinear e estruturar o estudo: caracterizar o que é tetraplegia parcial; analisar como a hipoterapia é uma ferramenta na reabilitação; compreender, segundo as perspetivas do sujeito e do fisioterapeuta, quais foram as melhorias/benefícios percecionadas com o recurso à hipoterapia. Este estudo de caso assentou numa metodologia qualitativa, onde foram realizadas duas entrevistas semiestruturadas, uma entrevista ao sujeito com tetraplegia parcial e outra ao seu fisioterapeuta. Após a análise e discussão de resultados, concluiu-se, segundo os participantes, que existiram melhorias que se fizeram notar a nível do equilíbrio do tronco, na aquisição da posição sentada dinâmica, a nível cardíaco e respiratório, na espasticidade, aumento da massa muscular dos músculos intercostais e a nível da capacidade circulatória do sangue. | pt_PT |
| dc.description.abstract | Hippotherapy is practiced with the aim of promoting the rehabilitation of people with motor disabilities, but also with cognitive problems. Several studies on autism spectrum disorder, down syndrome, cerebral palsy, among others, reveal that the practice of hippotherapy brings numerous benefits, whether physical, cognitive and emotional. Spinal cord injuries resulting from accidents can cause various movement conditioning, from paralysis to partial or total quadriplegia. The main objective of this investigation was to understand how hippotherapy can become an asset in the rehabilitation of a person with partial quadriplegia, hereinafter referred to as subject. Three specific objectives were also formulated that allowed the study to be delineated and structured: to characterize what partial quadriplegia is; analyze how hippotherapy is a tool in rehabilitation; understand, from the perspectives of the subject and the physical therapist, what were the improvements/benefits perceived with the use of hippotherapy. This case study was based on a qualitative methodology, where two semi-structured interviews were carried out, an interview with the subject with partial quadriplegia and another with his physical therapist. After analyzing and discussing the results, it was concluded, according to the participants, that there were improvements that were noted in terms of trunk balance, in the acquisition of a dynamic sitting position, at the cardiac and respiratory level, in spasticity, increase in muscle mass intercostal muscles and blood circulatory capacity. | pt_PT |
