Abstract(s)
Cumulativamente, a
The present abstract has as main goal to describe the experience and the work carried out in the Landscape Architecture Greenflux Studio, in Vilamoura and present the results of the applied research regarding the study of the flora and natural vegetation of the administrative area where the projects developed during the internship are located, Quarteira and Almancil. The elaboration of this thesis was guided by the objectives related with the experience of daily practice in a studio and with the opportunity to contribute to the valorisation of the office´s work. In this context was identified as theme of interest "the choices and the use of vegetable material as part of the landscape architect and the customer". The projects developed by the office are mainly residential gardens located in tourist resorts located in the Algarve coast-centre. In the projects of these gardens was noticed that the list of used vegetation was is frequently reduced and composed majority by non-native species. Cumulatively, the extensive area represented by these set of gardens, has a significant impact in the landscape´s fragmentation due to discontinuity that they establish regards to the natural vegetation, still present in still present in the non-urbanized spaces of the studied area. In order to fill this gap, was developed a proposal of a list of native species interesting for use in private gardens. This proposal was based in the analysis of biophysical aspects determining the arrangement of floristic elements and vegetation in the studied area (human occupation, bioclimatology, biogeography, pedology, phytosociology) and in the identification of the corresponding vegetation series, as well as their respective associations. Was also developed an analysis of the availability of these species in three reference of garden centres. The analysis and research developed has the purpose of providing a fundamental methodology to guide the identification of native species of Quarteira and Almancil, as well as, to the incentive a change in the use of exotic plants in residential gardens in this region, promoting the valorisation and protection of the natural values existent in this territory.
