Autobiographical Recollection Test (ART) é uma escala curta, de fácil aplicação, que foi desenvolvida por Berntsen et al. (2019) para medir quão bem as pessoas acreditam recordar eventos do seu passado. A criação desta escala visa medir diferenças individuais na capacidade de memória autobiográfica geral, sem a necessidade de recordar eventos autobiográficos específicos, enfatizando as
características teorias da experiência de recordar. O presente estudo tem como objetivo proporcionar uma versão em Espanhol do ART, uma vez que atualmente não está disponível na língua espanhola, e avaliar as características psicométricas dessa versão,
examinando a sua estrutura fatorial, a sua fiabilidade e a sua correlação com a escala Survey of Autobiographical Memory (SAM).
A amostra utilizada no estudo incluiu 185 participantes de diferentes nacionalidades hispanofalantes, maioritariamente feminino (67%), com uma média etária de 41.8 anos (DP = 13.4). A análise da estrutura interna da versão espanhola do ART confirmou o modelo teórico original composto por sete fatores correlacionados. A análise da fiabilidade (alfa de Cronbach e estabilidade temporal) e da validade (convergente, discriminante e de construto) demostrou que as medidas destes sete fatores revelam características psicométricas excelentes, à exceção da dimensão “life story”, que apresentou maior fragilidade ao nível da consistência interna e da validade. Desta forma, a nova versão da ART disponibiliza um instrumento psicometricamente válido para avaliar e estudar a memória autobiográfica na comunidade hispanofalante nativa no mundo, que representa 6,2% da população
mundial e é a quarta língua mais falada no mundo.
Autobiographical Recollection Test (ART) is a short, easy-to-apply scale developed by Berntsen et al. (2019) to measure how well individuals believe they can remember events from their past. The purpose of creating this scale is to assess individual differences in overall autobiographical memory capacity without requiring the recall of specific autobiographical events, emphasizing the theoretical characteristics of the experience of remembering. The present study aims to provide a Spanish version of the ART, as it is currently unavailable in Spanish, and to evaluate the psychometric characteristics of this version by examining its factor structure, reliability, and correlation with the Survey of Autobiographical Memory (SAM). The sample used in the study included 185 participants from different Spanishspeaking nationalities, predominantly female (67%), with an average age of 41.8 years (SD = 13.4). The analysis of the internal structure of the Spanish version of the ART confirmed the original theoretical model composed of seven correlated factors. The reliability analysis (Cronbach's alpha and temporal stability) and validity analysis (convergent, discriminant, and construct) demonstrated that the measures of these seven factors reveal excellent psychometric characteristics, with the exception of the "life story" dimension, which showed greater fragility in terms of internal consistency and validity. Thus, the new version of the ART provides a psychometrically valid instrument to assess and study autobiographical memory in the native Spanish-speaking community worldwide, which represents 6.2% of the global population and is the fourth most spoken language in the world.
