O presente documento e projeto criativo partem de um estudo em torno da escrita e da tipografia, no contexto artístico moderno e contemporâneo, incidindo em grande medida na sua utilização em sistemas audiovisuais e digitais. Relacionando texto, imagem, movimento e interação foram desenvolvidos múltiplos artefactos audiovisuais e digitais que procuram explorar cruzamentos verbo-visuais, verbo-dinâmicos e verbo-interativos. Esta iniciativa foi provocada por uma primeira intenção de divulgar o espólio documental e textual do Eng.º Fernando Gonçalves Lavrador, ensaísta da imagem em movimento e um dos fundadores do Clube Português de Cinematografia –hoje Cineclube do Porto–, atualmente salvaguardado pelo Cine-Clube de Avanca. Com o intuito de disseminar este património, traçou-se um plano para desenvolver uma videoinstalação que seria apresentada durante a 29ª edição do Festival de Cinema de Avanca, servindo de montra para apresentar este legado cultural importante para a região, e de apelo a futuros investigadores para o seu estudo e preservação. Para chegar a esta instalação de videoarte desenvolveu-se antes um percurso de experimentação na prática artística audiovisual e digital, onde se construíram sete obras diferentes, desde animações em stop-motion a programas online interativos, que relacionam textos e imagens em movimento. O projeto artístico aqui traçado procurou desenvolver processos criativos em torno da escrita e estudar novas possibilidades de utilização da tipografia enquanto componente artística num sistema computacional e videográfico.
This document and creative project stem from a study on writing and typography within the context of modern and contemporary art, with a strong focus on their use in audiovisual and digital systems. By connecting text, image, movement, and interaction, multiple audiovisual and digital artifacts were developed to explore verbo-visual, verbo-dynamic, and verbointeractive intersections. This initiative was sparked by an initial intention to disseminate the documental and textual archive of Eng. Fernando Gonçalves Lavrador, a moving image essayist and one of the founders of Clube Português de Cinematografia –now Cineclube do Porto–, currently preserved by Cine-Clube de Avanca. With the goal to disseminate this heritage, a plan was created to develop a video installation to be presented during the 29th edition of the Avanca Film Festival, serving as a showcase to present this significant cultural legacy for the region and as a call to future researchers for its study and preservation. To reach this video art installation, a path of experimentation in audiovisual and digital artistic practice was developed, resulting in seven different works, ranging from stop-motion animations to interactive online programs, which relate texts and moving images. The artistic project outlined here aimed to develop creative processes around writing and explore new possibilities for using typography as an artistic component in a computational and videographic system.
