Com a constante evolução da tecnologia ao longo dos anos, torna-se relevante estudar a influência da aplicação e desenvolvimento do Metaverso na indústria hoteleira e estudar o comportamento da geração Z, por representarem os futuros consumidores e utilizadores do Metaverso. O metaverso é um ambiente virtual e tridimensional que pode ser acedido através de tecnologias de realidade virtual e realidade aumentada. Esta investigação pretende averiguar, através de um estudo exploratório, as implicações do Metaverso na qualidade do serviço prestado na indústria hoteleira. Para este efeito, pretendese, por um lado, averiguar em que áreas ou procedimentos hoteleiros o Metaverso se poderá expressar e, por outro, que implicações terá no âmbito da qualidade do serviço prestado.
Embora existam desafios para a sua implementação, as possibilidades de inovação e melhoria do grau de satisfação na hotelaria são notáveis. O estudo revela que o Metaverso pode permitir
o desenvolvimento de oportunidades inovadoras para a indústria hoteleira e que existe reconhecimento da sua utilidade por partes dos profissionais da indústria e dos próprios
consumidores.
O problema da investigação aqui apresentado centra-se no facto do contexto do Metaverso ainda ser uma temática pouco desenvolvida, tanto na literatura como na aplicação em contexto
real na indústria hoteleira. A compreensão dos futuros clientes e utilizadores do Metaverso, nomeadamente da geração Z, é crucial para a inventariação das implicações emergentes para a qualidade do serviço.
Sendo este um estudo exploratório, para compreender a perspetivas de futuros consumidores e fornecedores de serviços foram desenvolvidos dois inquéritos a ambas as partes com o objetivo de explorar como o Metaverso, enquanto componente, pode ser aplicado e incluído na perceção da qualidade.
As limitações da investigação passam por não haver literatura suficiente sobre o Metaverso e pela sua aplicação e criação estarem num momento embrionário, ainda esteja a ser desenvolvido.
With the constant evolution of technology over the years, it is relevant to study the influence of the application and development of Metaverse in the hotel industry and to study the behavior of generation Z as they represent the future consumers and users of Metaverse. Through an exploratory study, this research aims to ascertain the implications of Metaverse on the quality of service provided by the hotel industry. For this purpose, on the one hand, the aim is to find out in which areas or hotel procedures Metaverse could be used, and on the other, what implications it will have for the quality of service provided. Although there are challenges, the possibilities for innovation and improving the level of satisfaction in the hotel industry are remarkable. The study reveals that Metaverse can enable the development of innovative opportunities for the hotel industry and that its usefulness is recognized by the industry professionals and consumers themselves. The research difficulty is centered on the fact that the Metaverse context is still an underdeveloped topic, both in the literature and in the real-world application in the hotel industry. Its comprehension by the future customers and users of Metaverse, namely the generation Z, is crucial to identifying the emerging implications for the quality of service. As this is an exploratory study and to understand the perspectives of future consumers and service providers, two surveys were developed for both parties with the aim of exploring how Metaverse, as a component, can be applied and can be involved in the perception of quality. The limitations of the research are that there is not enough literature on Metaverse and that its application and creation is at a very early stage, although it is under development.
