Abstract(s)
This report presents a detailed description of a pedagogical intervention carried out in a class of the 1st cycle of basic education, followed by a reflection on it. The main subject of the report is the development of content and mathematical skills of students through interdisciplinary tasks, with Portuguese, through Children's Literature, used to promote and facilitate the learning process of Mathematics. The pedagogical intervention referred was carried out in a Basic School in Sines, in a 2nd year class composed of 24 students. The work done with the class consists of the application of mathematical tasks, which the students solve independently. As far as the research methodology is concerned, this investigation followed a qualitative approach, and the techniques of data collection were participant observation, survey by interview and survey by questionnaire and document analysis. This research has as main objective to test and prove the importance of interdisciplinarity in the teaching and learning process and in the acquisition of skills by the students, namely in the Mathematics curricular component. This report allows us to conclude that the stories involve students in mathematical tasks, contributing to their development of knowledge in mathematics domains. Thus, it is possible to admit that Children's Literature helps the learning of Mathematics and that it is important that teachers make an effort to look for interesting strategies for students, in order to find alternatives to traditional teaching, which is increasingly unsuitable for new generations of students.
