Abstract(s)
Sexual coercion is part of the domain of sexual violence and is called any tactic or strategy intended to involve another person in risky sexual behavior. It is known that sexual assertiveness can protect individuals from this type of behavior, however the relationship between these two variables needs to be studied in the homosexual population. The main objective of this investigation is to verify the association between sexual coercion and sexual assertiveness in homosexuals and heterosexuals. It was also sought to understand whether these variables, in isolation, suffer differences between genders and sexual orientations. The sample consisted of 154 participants, aged between 18 and 66 years, of which 74 identified themselves as heterosexual and 80 as homosexual. An online questionnaire was carried out, consisting of several scales designed to assess the variables to be studied, together with a sociodemographic questionnaire and a sexual history questionnaire. For its analysis, the IBM SPSS Statistics software was used. The results indicate a negative association between sexual assertiveness and mild sexual coercion. In sexual coercion, it was found that the milder forms prevail over the severe ones, we also observed in victimization, in a more generalized indicator, that women and homosexuals are more susceptible to this type of behavior, however this difference between genders and between orientations was not confirmed in the perpetration of coercive behavior. Regarding sexual assertiveness, no differences were found between genders and between sexual orientations in any of the indicators used.
