Fazendo parte natural da vida quotidiana do indivĂduo, a ansiedade Ă© propulsora de mudanças e alteraçÔes experimentais ao longo da vida. Esta, quando excessiva, apresenta consequĂȘncias diretas sobre a saĂșde, podendo ser a causa de numerosas doenças, em diferentes graus. Devido ao impacto que a ansiedade tem na sociedade atual, a mesma tem sido alvo de inĂșmeros estudos cientĂficos.
A percentagem de indivĂduos que apresentam sintomas de ansiedade tem vindo a aumentar em Portugal e, por consequĂȘncia, tambĂ©m o consumo de ansiolĂticos. Estudos relativos ao consumo de medicamentos destacam Portugal como um dos paĂses com maior consumo de ansiolĂticos a nĂvel europeu.
Os ansiolĂticos sĂŁo considerados fĂĄrmacos seguros e eficazes em tratamentos a curto prazo, no entanto, o seu uso durante um longo perĂodo Ă© controverso, pois questiona-se sobre o possĂvel desenvolvimento de dependĂȘncia fĂsica e psicolĂłgica, assim como de intolerĂąncia ao fĂĄrmaco. O consumo excessivo de ansiolĂticos resulta em parte da prescrição e dispensa sem consciencialização. Torna-se entĂŁo necessĂĄria uma atuação criteriosa por parte dos profissionais de saĂșde perante esta temĂĄtica, por forma a evitar, nĂŁo sĂł, a automedicação, como o aumento das doses prescritas.
A presente dissertação tem como principal objetivo compreender o uso abusivo e inapropriado desta classe farmacolĂłgica, assim como procurar eventuais soluçÔes para fazer face ao consumo de ansiolĂticos sem acompanhamento.
Being a natural part of the individual's daily life, anxiety is the driving force for changes and experimental changes throughout life. This has direct consequences on health and may be the cause of numerous diseases, at variable degrees. Due to the impact that this disease has in today's society, it has been the target of numerous scientific studies. The percentage of individuals with anxiety symptoms has been increasing in Portugal and, consequently, the consumption of anxiolytics growths too. Studies on the consumption of medicines reveals that Portugal is one of the countries with the highest consumption of anxiolytics at the European level. Anxiolytics are considered safe and effective drugs in short-term treatments, however, their use over a long period is controversial, as they question the possible development of physical and psychological dependence, as well as of drug intolerance. Excessive consumption of anxiolytics raises suspicions about prescribing and dispensing without consciousness. Then, it is necessary to perform a careful action by health professionals in this area, in order not only to avoid self-medication, but also to increase the prescribed doses. The main objective of this dissertation is to understand the abusive and inappropriate use of this pharmacological class, as well as to look for possible solutions to face the consumption of anxiolytics without follow-up.
