Abstract(s)
The utilization of virtual and augmented reality technologies has emerged as a highly promising alternative for application in neurorehabilitation treatments. Several studies have demonstrated positive and encouraging outcomes regarding the motor and cognitive recovery of patients. Additionally, these technologies have led to an increase in patient motivation and satisfaction, driven by the novelty and innovation factor inherent to the therapeutic approach. Within the context of the benefits offered by the use of these technologies, the current investigative work was developed with the aim of establishing a baseline grounded in scientific literature and user perceptions. This baseline serves as a foundation for the design of a business model intended to facilitate the subsequent establishment of a neurorehabilitation technology center. For the development of the business model, a mixed-method approach was chosen, encompassing two pivotal aspects. Firstly, a synthesis of primary studies concerning the utilization of virtual and augmented reality technologies in neurorehabilitation contexts was conducted using the PRISMA methodology. This synthesis yielded relevant evidence for integration. Secondly, a case study was employed to ascertain the perspectives, opinions, and needs of users, namely healthcare professionals and patients. To this end, data collection tools such as online surveys and the execution of a unique focus group were utilized. In this regard, the execution of this study enabled the researcher to establish guidelines for the creation of the neurorehabilitation technology center, employing the Canvas methodology. Through this methodology, the value proposition was defined, necessary resources, partnerships, and significant activities were determined, along with other strategic components of the business. Collectively, these elements facilitate the creation and delivery of value to customers within the business model. Among the key proposals stemming from this project, in addition to the establishment of the baseline, the significance of meticulous strategic planning was recognized. This includes the selection of a suitable legal structure and the formulation of a comprehensive business plan encompassing crucial elements such as budgets, financing plans, marketing strategies, and operational plans. Furthermore, the implementation of an effective management system was structured, allowing for adjustments or enhancements based on obtained results and external environmental factors influencing the business landscape.
