Abstract(s)
cognitivo.
participantes, 83% do sexo feminino. Para além da LEAP utilizou-se o EMBU, a EDREVR,
a EVA e ainda a EDS-20.
convergente. A versão Portuguesa da Lum Emotional Availability of Parents (LEAP), a
Emotional Availability (EA) is a construct which is expanding in the scientific literature due to its relevance in mental health and well-being, as well as its influence on the development of different domains, particularly the emotional and cognitive domains. However, there is a lack of instruments adapted and validated for the Portuguese population. The present study aimed at adapting and validating the Lum emotional availability of parents (LEAP) scale, developed by Lum and Phares in 2005 for the North American population. LEAP aims at assessing the perceived EA of children (aged 18-25 years), regarding their parents. The present study had 413 participants, 83% female. In addition to LEAP, we used the EMBU, EDRE-SF, EVA, and EDS-20. The LEAP was translated according to the translation-retroversion procedure. Confirmatory factor analysis showed that maternal LEAP and paternal LEAP have satisfactory adjustment rates. A confirmatory factor analysis was performed. Maternal and paternal LEAP factors showed good internal consistency and adequate results regarding validities, namely convergent, being significantly and positively associated with the Emotional Support dimension (comfort and acceptance) and negatively associated with the Overprotection (devaluation and pressure) and Rejection (intrusion and excessive control) dimensions. Parental DE correlates positively with ER, showing convergent validity. The Portuguese version of the Lum Emotional Availability of Parents (LEAP), the LEAP-PT, shows adequate psychometric properties, with potential to be used by professionals and researchers to assess the perceived parental emotional availability in young Portuguese adults aged 18 to 25 years old.
