Abstract(s)
The present study took place during the Supervised Teaching Practice of the 2nd year of the Masters in Pre-School Education, at the Escola Superior de Educação e Comunicação, Universidade do Algarve, in the academic year 2021/22, from October 18th, 2021 to February 4th, 2022. The society we live in is changing and this change takes place in the school context and in the child's development, so it is necessary to find strategies that allow the development of activities that motivate children to discover, to autonomy and to research. Questioning, searching, understanding, discovering and applying are some steps that meet children's motivations. In this sense, with this investigation we intend to investigate the contribution of the project methodology to the exploration of the Jurassic period in a preschool context. Participated in this study 29 children, aged four years, from a pre-school institution belonging to the municipality of Loulé. To achieve this purpose, we opted for a methodology of a qualitative nature with an interpretative orientation. Throughout this investigation, several pedagogical activities were developed, according to the children's interests - to know more about dinosaurs. In order to answer the research question previously formulated, data were collected through various techniques and instruments, such as: participant observation, with records being made in the form of field notes; interview and questionnaire surveys; photographic records; weekly reflections; and daily and weekly plans. Data analysis suggests that the activities implemented allowed the children to develop relationships between the past and the present; create habits of group discussion and sharing; develop a taste for investigation and study of the past; developing, also, the creative sensibility through the plastic expression in the recreation of historical situations. In short, this study led us to understand the relevance that Project Work has in the dynamics of activities developed in the context of Pre-School and in the development of children.
