Abstract(s)
This study focuses on the importance of free play in child development and learning, directing the study to the analysis of the evolution of the play skills of the child under study, through a playful environment, with challenging materials, allowing free play, in order to stimulate and contribute to the overall development of the child with specific educational needs and their interaction in an inclusive education context. To carry out this research we chose a case study, with quantitative methodology, through the use of the Knox Preschool Scale - revised, applied in three different moments and qualitative, through questionnaires to some of the direct participants in the daily life of the child with specific educational needs and field notes, which include the activities and dynamics developed throughout the research as a way to enhance and stimulate skills and the overall development of the child inherent in the research. The environment and the materials that were made available to the child, in their interaction, exploration and structuring contributed to stimulate and promote the child's play skills and through observation and analysis of the results obtained. It was found that the modification and enrichment of the play environment and the activities performed contributed to the evolution of the play skills, in their different domains and for their overall development, highlighting the level of sensory integration, participation and interaction and communication among peers, in a free and spontaneous environment, which promoted and created a much more inclusive environment. The research proved to be a dynamic and interactive project, which contributed to a much freer and spontaneous play, with more interaction and rich in materials and sensations, resulting in higher quality and much more inclusive spaces.
