| dc.description.abstract | GIS has been applied to virtually all environmental science areas with significant results (Taylor and Blewitt [2006]). In the present thesis, a scientific method is described where GIS is utilized to build ionospheric Total Electron Content (TEC) maps from the data acquired from Global Positioning System (GPS) ground stations in the southern Iberian regions of Algarve, Alentejo, Andalusia, Murcia and Valencia. The total time span of these time series is a whole year (2011). By analyzing the ionospheric maps diurnal and seasonal changes can be observed (Crain [1993]). | pt_PT |
