Abstract(s)
concelho do barlavento algarvio (Portugal).
Measurement and Verification Protocol (IPMVP).
A performance do sistema solar
Buildings, whether for housing or for services, must provide users, among other things, thermal comfort and good indoor air quality. This situation is even more sensitive in sports complexes with indoor swimming pools, where to guarantee these requirements more complex systems with larger energy consumption are needed. Sometimes, these buildings are subject to interventions that improve the energy efficiency of their facilities, and consequently, generate economic savings. The aim is therefore to carry out an in-depth analysis of the energy efficiency improvement measures applied in a complex of municipal swimming pools located in Silves, on the western part of Algarve (Portugal). In order to make this analysis, the International Performance, Measurement and Verification Protocol (IPMVP) will be used. This protocol, created over 25 years ago, allow to quantify the results of energy efficiency projects and programs through different tools. The results obtained through the study carried out in the sports complex confirmed the expected savings, with the building's consumption having been reduced by 498,303 kWh, that is, a decrease of 39% in relation to the previous values. In the individual evaluation of each of the energy efficiency improvement measures, the results, in general, are also positive. The performance of the photovoltaic solar system and LED lighting are in line with the predictions, while the solar thermal system exceeded the expectations. The only measure to improve energy efficiency that, although it has achieved energy savings, hasn’t managed to reach the forecast values, was the replacement of the pumping system.
